Denise Broussard Sassone’s self-published cookbook, Café Sassone, includes 238 kitchen-tested recipes and 165 photographs of family and friends. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to the New Orleans Slow Food Convivium and the New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic. Café Sassone is hardcover with a concealed wire binding, so that it will lay flat for cooking.

Born in Louisiana to a Cajun father and New Orleanian mother, raised in New Orleans, educated at LSU (B.A. English) & UNO (B.Sc. Computer Science), and married and living in Vicksburg, Mississippi, for the past two decades, Denise has had a deep passion for cooking since she was a child. She loves to host dinner parties in her home, where her family and friends always beg for her recipes. Pot luck party hosts always think of inviting her first. Her brother Joe, the master executive chef, even used some of her recipes in his fine dining New Orleans-cuisine restaurant, J. Broussard’s, in Columbus, Mississippi.

Being the author of two previous 100% benefit cookbooks, Denise has been pressured by family and friends, many of whom are cooks and foodies, to publish her own cookbook, and since Denise is the family genealogist and collects ancestor photographs, she wanted to share some of those too.

Enjoy her little stories with the recipes. See photos of her interesting recent ancestors and family and friends. Cook any of her kitchen-tested recipes and you will wish that she would attend your pot luck party too. These Southern home cooking-type recipes, Cajun specialties, Creole standards, and a smattering from international cuisines will leave you feeling like you visited warm, loving families in both Vicksburg and New Orleans and had wonderful creative family dinners with them.
